What To Expect

Every one of us has our own unique set of experiences that help make us who we are. When we come together, with all our expectations and experiences, life can get quite interesting. How each of us experiences the same event will be different.

Yet, despite those differences, there are certain things that can be expected when you come to SHF.

You will be welcomed

We are a people who care about people. We believe that Jesus died not only to save us from our sins but to bring us into a relationship with him, a relationship of joy amidst all the peculiarities of life. If he cares about us, then we should -- and do -- care about others. And so you will be greeted and welcomed.

Come as you are

You will not be met with expectations. Shiloh is made up of many different types of people. Some wear suits. Some wear jeans, with and without holes. Most come casually, because that is how you are with family. We have no expectations of you.

We care about children and youth

Shiloh is heavily committed to children, as was Jesus. They are in the process of making their own commitments to Jesus, of making their faith their own, and we will do everything in our power to help them in this process. Your children, therefore, are most welcome. Their teachers are well-prepared, will love and care for your children, and will protect them. We have a very careful system of checking children in and out of their classes.

Authentic worship

Because we are committed to young and old alike, committed to being a cross-generational church, our music reflects those commitments. The music is upbeat and the lyrics theologically accurate, for it is with our voices that God is praised. The primary instrument of worship at Shiloh is our voices. You are welcome to raise your hands or stick them in your pockets. You are welcome to shout the "Amen" or quietly praise God. There is no cookie-cutter approach to worship here.

Preaching

When you leave, you will have heard God's voice through his word, the Bible. We are totally convinced that these words are the very words of God, uttered from his mouth through his servants, the writers of Scripture. The sermons will meet you where you are at, but will take you deeper because your perceived needs are not your real needs. Your real needs are met only in Jesus Christ and a life lived with all our affections set firmly on him.

Conclusion

If you come and visit, or decide to make Shiloh your home, please introduce yourself to the people around you. People with name tags on are our regular attenders. Those with blue lanyards are especially equipped to answer any questions. Thank you.
